I knew I was in for a treat when Ashley and Danny decided on the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois for their summer engagement session. Romance. Beautiful light. A couple deeply in love. My oh my, the cards were played just right.
My favorite thing ever is when I get to build a friendship with the couples who book me to photograph their wedding. There’s something so special about being able to text heart eye emojis with a bride because you are just THAT excited for their upcoming engagement session and becoming Instagram friends.
That’s Ashley and Danny for me. I knew we would have a great bond when I met them for coffee (at Starbucks, duh!) when they first began their hunt for a wedding photographer and they mentioned that their idea of the perfect date night is a quiet night in, takeout food and a movie or their favorite show. Yaaaaas, my kind of people.
Danny and Ashley have actually known each other since high school and had mutual friends. Word on the street is those very friends are still some of their closest friends and will be in their wedding party! Woot woot!
They didn’t date in high school or college; in fact, they barely spoke. He always saw her as a sweet and quiet girl and she always saw him as the serious but very witty guy who probably wouldn’t be interested in her (Ashley H’s words, not mine!)
Ashley said that it was when Danny and many of their friends came back home the year after graduating college that their paths crossed again and as Danny likes to say when he tells their story, the spark was ignited. 🙂
Engagement sessions are also so much fun when you have unexpected guests….
These two dodged and swatted at mosquitos for me just to get a few more shots when the light was at its best. Aren’t they troopers?
We quickly booked it to our cars and swatted at the mosquitos but it was sooooo worth it!
I cannot wait for their wedding next June at the Saint Patrick Church and the Bloomingdale Golf Club!
xoxo,
Ashley
