A Lyndale Park Peace Garden Wedding

I think this was probably THE most intimate wedding I’ve ever photographed, but the best part is, Lauren and Matt wanted it that way, even before Covid struck! They had plans to get married in Ireland and have a small reception celebration in Minneapolis after. Though their day wasn’t as it was planned, (and Minnesota isn’t no Ireland, that’s for sure!) I think it couldn’t have turned out any more beautiful.  Lauren and Matt found a perfect tree to host their little Lyndale Park Peace Garden wedding where they could be surrounded by their very closest friends and family.

Lauren is another photographer over at Lauren Baker Photography, so I was honored she chose me to photograph her big day! We “met” in a Facebook group for photographers and now I’m so happy we are friends! She had all the pretty details ready for me when I showed up at her mom’s house.

Lauren gifted Matt this watch before they had their first look. Matt kept saying “oh my gosh” as he opened and unwrapped it because he told Lauren not to get him anything. So that was a fun little surprise for him! 🙂

The couple chose to do a “hand fasting ceremony”, a Celtic tradition. I thought that was a fun way to incorporate Ireland still into their wedding day. Plus, it’s totally different than the typical unity rituals you see on a wedding day.

After the ceremony, we did some portraits! These two spoiled me with all of the portrait time they let me keep ’em for! Couple portraits are my favorite parts of a wedding day because these are the photos you’ll be framing on the walls in your home!

Something I really loved throughout the wedding day, from the ceremony vows to the toasts, was how Lauren and Matt and their family spoke about how these two compliment each other so well, but also are able to keep their individuality and stay true to themselves throughout their relationship.
