Kara and Jordan’s plum and lilac wedding at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois was a special one for me. I feel so connected to my couples than ever before. These two feel like friends and I am so fortunate for it. What I love about Kara and Jordan is they were both equally involved in the planning process. Every time I would chat with them on the phone, from our pre-booking consult, to wedding planning check-ins, they would both be on the phone with me. I loved that. They both wanted to be involved in building those relationships with their vendors as well as involved in the planning process.
The day started out chilly and windy, but as soon as the ceremony began, the sun came out and the wind stopped. It was the PERFECT fall day for a wedding!
I loved photographing Kara and Jordan’s rings. Rose gold is my fave, and as you can see, it’s theirs too!
I like to send my couples a questionnaire as soon as they book me to photograph their wedding day and one of the questions I like to ask them is what they are looking forward to most about being married. Jordan said she was looking forward to getting to have those conversations about life and having Kara as a partner and friend for the rest of her life. She said that being with her is one of her favorite things, even if they aren’t doing anything, and getting to walk through life with her by her side is something she’s been thinking about for years.
Kara said she’s looking forward to finally being able to call Jordan her wife. She said that Jordan is the most honest, loving, compassionate and beautiful humanbeing she’s ever known. She mentioned that no amount of time will ever be enough with her and that marriage is just the beginning for them.
After the first look. the couple’s sweet pup, Atlas, joined us! He had the most adorable bow tie and was SO GOOD at sitting still for a few portraits!
Kara and Jordan’s flower girl used the same basket Jordan did at her Aunt Marcie’s wedding when she was her flower girl. This was a special way for the couple to remember Aunt Marcie. Isn’t she darling? Especially with those lace gloves!
The two did a “unity plant” during their ceremony. They each poured soil into it. Such a special and personal touch that they can now have at their home!
I absolutely loved hanging with the couple’s bridesmaids and bridesmen for the day! Everyone looked dapper in their grey tuxes and the lilac and plum dresses.
After the ceremony, we ventured out in some golf carts to hit some spots along the golf course for a few glowy sunset portraits as wife + wife!
Jordan and Kara wanted to do their first dance outside, so I was all about that! The wind died down at this point and it was starting to warm up a tad. Their friends and family watched from the balcony porch.
Can’t wait to celebrate these two again at their reception celebration in May!
